Monochrome Revisited –

Angkor Wat

A Angkor Wat, the once mighty ancient city in the 13th Century, was mercilessly obliterated in wars and vanished in the wheel of time. The glorious capital of yesterday is now buried beneath the forest and deeply swallowed by trees, with roots tightly embracing the rocks, probing into each narrow slit, pushing, cracking and bursting.

The devastating ancient city and the endless succession of tree roots made a distinguish contrast. It represents a natural cycle of declination and rejuvenating vitality. The author used “Black & White” shooting in this series to protrude his passion. The used of various intensity of light shadings has revealed the unique layering of the roots and rocks. The richness of life is manifested through this by-crossing unity.
